Women's Conference 2015

This is a picture Cristi shared on her Facebook page about women's Conference. I do the same thing! I take notes and never see them again. I have decided I will only take notes using my ipad and that way, they will be there forever. So I hope. But since Cristi did keep her notes I will share them with you too.  She kept a quote that I like very much. She wrote:" That which is important is rarely urgent and that which is urgent is rarely important.

This is so true...sometimes the little mundane things we feel are so URGENT at the moment are really not that important in the grand scheme of things... Although they sure feel like it in the moment.

I want my "urgency" to be focused on simply growing and learning to become the woman, wife, mother, and counselor, I am destined to be... Or at least that is what I tell myself when I am avoiding my laundry task... " This was my older daughter Cristi Dame sharing her thoughts and I second them!

Stake President meeting

On Saturday April 25th Daniel participated in one of the meetings the area seventies hold every three to six months. Later that evening we went to the ribbon cutting ceremony at the book fair where the Church is participating.

The Dominican Republic today has 21 stakes with  2 area Seventies and one temple who has been operating since the year 2000. Daniel came to this area five years ago knowing that it would be a very challenging area and one a little out of control. Now it is considered the best area compare to other areas in the world.

Tiago made his debut

On April 23rd this adorable bundle of joy made his debut at a Hospital in Miami Florida.  He was named Tiago Hernan Rodriguez de Almeida. He weighed 7 lbs. 1 oz. measured 19 inches. The parents: Lexi and Alejandro couldn't be more proud!!

last day of class

This is my Institute class on the last day. Man, how I love the youth of our Church.
I am so grateful for the opportunity I had to teach this most remarkable students. My classes were about the gospel and provident living and gospel doctrine. They come eager to learn more about the gospel and how to live a better life. I hope in some way I was able to teach them something that will remain with them but the truth is that they taught me more than what I could ever teach them.

Mission President Seminar

This is the picture taken at the Mission President seminar on April 18, 2015. in the picture you see all the Mission Presidents and their wives along with the Area Seventies. At this time Elder Conrnish, Elder Zivic and Elder Martinez preside over the Caribbean Area. At this time we said good bye to three mission Presidents: Douglas from Santiago,  Mehr from West Indies and Bien-Aime from Haiti. So far I have attended a mission president's seminar every six months times five that equals ten and each one of them has been extra-special. I love missionaries, they are true angels and hope people realize what a great message of hope they bring.

Puerto Rico vacation at Easter

This was a fun vacation in Puerto Rico. I had forgotten how much I love this Island. They got the best of both worlds. We went to the beach just about every day except on Sunday. Luquillo was Charlotte's favorite and ours was Culebra which is considered the #3 most beautiful beach in the world! Pablo and Sydney were there during "Semana Santa" and General Conference. On a sad note, Tata, Sydney's grandfather passed away while they were there visiting us. Her grandma had to be hospitalized because she couldn't understand what was going on. It is so wonderful to see couples take care of each other enduring to the end!!

Beach time!

Analia, Spencer and baby Chris came for the weekend since they didn't go to Uruguay they had the credit to travel within a year. Spencer had a few days off due to spring break. We took them to Marbella since it has been so far our favorite beach. Drams was another option and it would have been cheaper to have gone there but we didn't get the rooms in time and when I found out we could have gone there I had already booked this place. I love this place becauase it never seems crowed.

Cluster meeting in Cusco

The DTA cluster meeting for 2015 was in Cusco, Peru. from March 20th to 25th. with Bishop CauseĆ©. The city of Cusco has remained almost intact since 1998 when we were there. Except that there are very nice hotels. We stayed at the Marriott there. On Monday March 23 we got up early around 5:00 am to take a bus to take us to the train station and then another bus that would take us to the mouth of Machu-pichu. They get 2,500 visitors daily during the high season.

This time of the year is not the high season but sometimes it rains like it did this day. Daniel was caring this heavy back pack with water that we didn't even drink because it was not hot at all. We had about three hours to tour the ruins and then went to eat lunch and back to the hotel. We climb and climb and climb but never got to the very top because it started to rain. (That is a good excuse to go back.) I bought a baby alpaca shall and some hats but wished I brought some jewelry. We were given coca tea in Cusco because people get sick from the altitude but a doctor had recommended taking some medicine so we were fine. This trip was a dream come true!
