From June 8 to June 18th Elder Christopherson and Elder Useda with their respective wives were in town to do an area review. I was asked to be with sister useda the whole time to translate for her from Spanish to English when she spoke and to English to Spanish when anyone else spoke so I was translating constantly. I went everywhere they went and for the first time, I got a taste of what those visits are like here in the Philippines.

Somene is turning 5
Yep, it's a new milestone for Beckett who is turning 5 today. This means that schools days are coming up soon. There is so much to learn and do for this busy body. Can't wait to see this kiddo next month.

Life is better at the beach
In the early 90's, after the civil war was over, and it became once again safe to travel to the rural areas in El Salvador, my parents built a house right on the beach. They named it Oceanos.
The home is oceanfront. It has 5 bedroom and 6 bathrooms with a nice pool and even comes with caretakers who are there at your service but no one ever uses it. We all live far away. Not even my sister Liz lives there anymore.
On this trip we made the effort to come at least for one afternoon to spend the night and go home the next morning. It takes a little over an hour and a half but well worth it. Later in the day, the ward had a mother's day celebration with entertainment and a wonderful meal. My mom, Paola and I went. Liz had another commitment that night.

Directors dinner and award
Today we went to the temple with all the directors. Even those who don't directly report to Daniel are invited. He is one who does not like to exclude anyone. We are after all working tougher. After the temple we went to a dinner where I was asked to talk about my husband and ask Ana to present the 40 year recognition award. The plaque reads: The Area President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Philippines 40 years of service presented to Daniel R. de Almeida in grateful appreciation for your loyal and distinguished service. Singed by Ana Flores and Ben Porter, managing director of Human Resources.
